When coming up for an idea for my game I wanted to choose something that was viable for the time that I have but also something that would cater to my own strengths as well to then create a well fought out game. When it came down to the idea I went with I choose an idea I wanted to do for quite awhile which was PSX style atmospherical horror. The pros of this idea is that it focuses on my strengths as a designer which will help with both the design and development stages of this project.

Project Setup

First things first I wanted to set up some of the tools and programs I am going to use so that they are ready to be used and I wont have to worry about it in the future. GitHub and Unity is the first thing that I decided to set up, GitHub is a major when it comes to making sure my project has a backup if there are any problems that may happen such as conflicts that force me to revert changes. I chose Unity as one it is free to use but most importantly it is a soft ware I know the most and can easily navigate and has tool such a probuilder that I can use when creating whiteboxes.

During this week I also started working on how I was going to go about creating the levels. Firstly I wanted to make it so that all my assets where modular, modular assets will help heavily in the long run allowing me to slot my environmental assets together and help creating levels faster and more efficient without a degrading quality to go faster. The main tool that I mentioned above that I will be using for my whiteboxing is probuilder as it is a tool within unity I know pretty well and it will allow me to create simple modular assets, but also a few fully textured assets as well.
