Level Sketches
During this week I started planing out my levels. This was done first by sketching them out. The main sketch I focused on was creating the first level of the game and that was the city that it was going to take place in. When sketching levels I will always create multiple versions until I create one that I feel is going work and most of the time that comes with combining things from different sketches that work well into one. Below will show the paper sketch that I decided on.
One thing I made sure to take into consideration when sketching was the fact that I was making models modular so using a dotted grided paper it allowed me to make sure the sketch was out of proportion but it let me see how the modular assets should fit together.
Unity
This week I also took some time to set up the first scenes in unity and adding some of the tools that I am going to be using. One of these tools which Is one of the most important and that I have mentioned in a previous blog Is probuilder as it will be what I am going to use for Whiteboxing. I also set up two scene that I will be updating in the future, One being the main scene where I will be whiteboxing and building the level but also a test scene so that I can test out objects and code before I add them to the main scene.
Monthly Reflection
Every 4 weeks I will be putting monthly reflection to go over what I feel I did well and what I could Improve on in the future. I'll start first at what i feel I could improve on from this month. As a designer it is important especially for these blogs to record my work as I do it and that is something that I feel I could be doing better, to improve this I can make a document where when I finished a task or goal I can wright it down so that When I come back to write these blogs I can more easily get down what I have done. For what I have done well I feel that I was able to effectively set up tool such as unity and github all ready to go for when I fully start development of the game and by doing this setup avoid any problems in future weeks.
