Probuilder Assets and Texturing

Firstly This week I set out on creating some probuilder assets and texturing them. The main assets would be the roads and the grass. With the style of the game being PSX models are going to be pretty simple with low res textures. The most simple assets to create was the grass as it only takes flat probuilder model with with the grass texture placed on top.


This was a similar process to the road assets except adding the indents to include both the road and the pathway in one.

The reasoning for using pro-builder for some of my assets was that I wanted to make all my assets modular. Making my assets modular means I can snap them together. I did this my essentially creating a scale by using the grids within unity, for example the roads are 4 squares large and each floor piece will be 1 square. And so making sure that each road assets is 4 squares large and using the snapping tool they all fit together perfectly and once they are all prefabbed they can be constantly reused. When it comes to the blender assets, most of them will be detail like cars or roller bins and won't need to use the modular system i'm using.


Test Scene

This week I wanted to build my test scene so that I it is ready for me to start implementing

Mechanics and test them but also import assets and see how they look which importantly allowed me to see how my modular system with the first assets was going to work.

It came out pretty well in the end and now in the future I can easily create road networks etc for the city map that I will be creating. As you can also see there are large blocks in the scene and as of now they are representing the building that I will be creating in the future to add in.


First Person Controller

For the player I wanted them to have simple movement that wasn't to flashy just a simple walk and run with a crouch. Now I could have made the scripts myself but opted for an asset called Modular First Person Controller. This asset had all of the things that I wanted plus some bonus features that I would have needed later on down the line, this being a zoom which will help when I make weapon scripts so that when the player aims it will zoom with it.
